TabNote - New Tab Notepad

1. Summary

TabNote replaces your browser's new tab page with a note-taking interface. The extension allows you to create, edit, pin, delete, copy, and download notes. Your note data is stored locally using browser extension storage.

2. Information the extension processes

The extension may process and store the following information locally on your device:

• Note titles and note content that you type into the extension.
• Note metadata such as creation time, update time, pinned status, and the currently active note.
• Temporary clipboard output when you use the copy feature.
• Downloaded text files when you choose to export a note.

TabNote does not ask for account registration details, payment information, or profile data.

3. How your information is used

Your data is used only to provide the extension's core functionality, including:

• Saving and reopening your notes in the new tab experience.
• Displaying recent notes in the extension popup.
• Letting you pin, delete, copy, and download notes.
• Showing note statistics such as word count, character count, and line count.

4. Storage and retention

TabNote stores note data locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. This means your notes stay on your device unless you choose to copy or export them yourself.

• Your notes remain stored until you delete them or clear the extension's local data.
• If you remove the extension, browser behavior typically removes extension storage as well.
• Because storage is local, we do not have direct access to your note content.

5. Permissions used by the extension

TabNote does not request permissions for browsing history, contacts, location, microphone, camera, or remote account access.

6. Clipboard and downloads

• When you click the copy button, the selected note text is written to your clipboard on your device.
• When you click download, the note is exported as a local .txt file.
• These actions happen only when you choose to use them.

7. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or broker your personal information. We do not transmit your note content to our own servers.

The extension code, as provided, does not include analytics, advertising SDKs, user tracking systems, or account-based cloud sync.

8. Third-party services

The extension interface may load font resources from Google Fonts to display its UI styling. That request is separate from your note content. Your notes themselves are not sent to Google Fonts.

If you want a stricter privacy posture, you can replace hosted web fonts with bundled local fonts inside the extension package.

9. Your choices

• You can delete individual notes at any time from within the extension.
• You can avoid using clipboard and download features if you do not want note content copied or exported.
• You can stop all future local storage by uninstalling the extension.

10. Children's privacy

TabNote is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the extension operates locally and does not require account registration, data handling is limited to what a user types into the notes.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the extension, legal requirements, or privacy practices. When we do, we will update the effective date shown at the top of this page.
